Hey friends! Ever feel like doing a craft project, but you only have a little time?
I’ve got the best and probably the chicest hour craft for you today!
Save this one on Pinterest and put it on your list because it’s a satisfying project that is sure to turn out beautifully.
Usually, with crafts projects there is never a guarantee it’s going to look great, but this one is the exception!
Modern Dollar Store Pedestal Craft
What you’ll need
- glass or ceramic drinking glass
- plastic bowl
- base coat spray paint
- top coat textured spray paint
- super glue
Step 1
Head to your local Dollar Store and choose a glass or ceramic drinking glass, and a plastic bowl. The glass will be the base of your pedestal so it needs to be heavy. The bowl will be the top part of your pedestal so it needs to be light.
A top heavy pedestal will not make you happy because it’ll tip over too easily.
Step 2
Pick up two cans of spray paint. Spray paint makes this craft go so much faster, however you can also brush on latex paint, which I’ve done many times as well.
For the top coat choose a textured spray paint and for the base coat go with a color that complements your top coat.
The base coat will show through a little with a textured top coat, and adds depths which you want because it gives the piece more interest. This is just a nice way of saying, it makes the pedestal look much more expensive than it actually is.
Step 3
Turn your bowl and glass upside down then apply super glue to the bottom of the glass.
Lay the glass on top of the base of the bowl. Make sure to center the glass right in the middle of the bottom of the bowl so when it’s finished it will balance nicely..
Allow to dry.
Step 4
After the super glue has dried begin covering your pedestal with your base coat. Allow to dry. Remember the spray paint application rule.
Apply several light coats of spray until your base color is evenly covering the pedestal.
Mine looked so good I almost stopped here! Reminds me of milk glass.
Step 5
Finish off this modern Dollar Store pedestal with the textured top coat of spray paint.
DESIGN TIP: To add a one of a kind look, over spray in a few areas on the pedestal so the paint drips just a little then dab your finger several times over top the drips and form your own pattern. Once dried this area will take on somewhat of a stone or marbleized appearance.
After it has dried fill up this chic, budget friendly pedestal with your favorite seasonal decor.
It’s a great look and for a fraction of the cost of a pedestal you’d find online or in stores.
This is one of the easiest craft projects I’ve finished in a long time. Let me know if it’s something you might try!
