Homemade Boxed Chocolates romantic

Have you ever tried to make a homemade boxed chocolate recipe?

it’s much easier than you might think, and a great projects to do with kids.

To quote the iconic movie Forrest Gump, “Life is like a bowl of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.”

My son Isaac is the biggest gourmand of all of us by far.

He really enjoys experimenting with food. He asked his big sister to help him make boxes chocolates and she was happy to oblige.

Notice he didn’t ask his mama because he knows me so well. I love to eat food, not make it.

I assisted by financing this venture and going out to the store and finding all the ingredients.

Plus I took photos and made sure everything tasted delicious. Wink, wink.

Homemade Boxed Chocolates ingredients

Ingredients

  • Chocolate – milk chocolate chips, white chocolate, or dark chocolate.
  • Any fillings for your chocolates you might like

Our favorite fillings- To make our homemade chocolates we used five fillings: mixed berry jam, caramel (which we melted, crushed pecans, crushed peanuts, and Nutella. We also did a combo, like pecans with caramel as well.

Supplies

Homemade Boxed Chocolates molds

I found these candy molds and we love them. We use them in other ways as well.

They make cute ice cubes, but you can also make bath crayons and chalk with them for little ones.

Homemade Boxed Chocolate Recipe

  1.  Put the chocolate chips in a measuring glass and heat for 30 seconds. Stir, then heat for another 30 seconds. Stir again.
  2.   If it’s not fully melted after 1 minute, continue to heat in 10 second increments, stirring and checking the temperature in between.
  3.   Pour the melted chocolate into the mold.
  4.   Refrigerate the mold and make the filling. After letting the filling thicken in the fridge, fill the chocolate molds, then again place in the freezer for approximately 10-15 minutes. After this top them with a layer of       the melted chocolate.
  5.    Let them harden in the fridge for about 30 minutes to an hour.
  6.    Pop them out of the molds and serve. Because these molds are so pliable I could actually peel them off the chocolate. It worked perfectly!

These were such a special little dessert. It takes only a short time to whip them up and our whole family enjoyed them for several days.

This study HERE found cocoa can actually help relieve pain in those with peripheral artery disease.

If you need another great reason to eat some chocolate. The American Chemical Society did a study showing real hot cocoa (not the fake powdered stuff) is richer in antioxidants than red wine and tea.

This recipe is an easy way to surprise your loved one with a box of homemade chocolate candy.
