Is your life in need of some organization? Mine definitely is! A smart place to start getting more organized is by organizing your bathroom cabinets. Hear me out friends.
Recently I was reading about the importance of having a morning routine. The thinking is that if we can set good habits and intentions in the morning, it’s more likely we’ll be able to follow through with the rest of our goals as the day goes on. Basically, start strong. I have never been a morning person so for me a morning routine is an important component to my day.
A good morning routine helps keep us focused and on track when we’d maybe rather climb back into bed!
Budget Bathroom Organization
Organizing our Primary Bathroom for under $50
Any routine is made up of habits. Preferably good habits! Make staying organized in the bathroom a habit. Build these steps into your routine and make getting started in the day easier on yourself.
Purge and Only Keep the Essentials
Our bathroom cabinets have been disorganized for awhile now. I got to thinking about all the time I waste looking for things while I’m getting ready in the morning. How much more productive could I be if I took the time to organize our bathroom cabinets?
Jeremy has a good system in place that helps him get ready fast, and I wanted to do the same. That meant I needed to get rid of several things I didn’t use when getting ready, or for that matter any other time. Hello, three blow dryers. Good-bye two blow dryers. Yes, I kept the vintage one from college for old time’s sack.
Invest In Good Storage Containers
Then put things away where they’re supposed to go. All the time!
This project started by me biting the bullet and investing in wire baskets, as well as a few other storage containers. I especially like these wire baskets here for their extra long length. They also have a handle on both ends to make it easier to take in and out of the cabinet. I pull them out of the cabinets and use what I need in the morning, then put them back in their home until the next day. One is for hair, another is for skin, etc, etc. you get the idea.
Game Changers and worth every penny.
Home Tip: When looking for storage and organization options don’t limit yourself to only the bathroom. If you look in kitchen storage and organization you’ll find many other containers that may work best for your particular need in the bathroom. Same with garage organization items. Most of the storage options I went with were not advertised under the bathroom storage.
When I was going through my toiletries I saw that much of what I use comes in smaller containers. These containers here have three shallow drawers that hold those little, but essential items. I have these drawers organized in the order of how I use them and it makes getting ready a snap.
Empty Cabinets
First, I emptied everything out of our cabinets. It was obvious the current system wasn’t working well for me, and I wanted to begin thinking about what I actually needed in these cabinets when getting ready in the mornings. After it was cleared out I gave it a good clean by spraying the inside and outside of the cabinets with a homemade cleaner, and then wiping it down.
These spray bottles never fail me. I have oodles for several different things around the house.
Make Staying Organized Easier
On the lower cabinets I called in some help. Part of staying organized is making it as easy as possible to stay organized. I purchased this pull out cabinet drawer to help me easily get to the things in the back of the lower cabinet.
My sweet Isaac helped me out with this by installing the pull out drawer here. It was very simple now it’s so easy to get to all the things you didn’t know you needed until you need them. No more tipping over stuff as I try to get to that one things in the back. The bottles and jars stay neat and tidy now.
Here are a few ideas for inexpensive bathroom storage and organization solutions. Not only are they cute bathroom storage, but they’re keep you organized if you use them.
Now that I’ve literally just let you into my proverbial medicine cabinet, I hope you’re inspired to get organized in yours. And if you’re bathroom cabinets are already beautifully organized, then you know how good I feel right now. Being organized is a constant state of movement. Picking up and putting away is my new hobby, at least in the bathroom.
Putting things away is a great budget friendly habit!

I LOVE THIS!! Thank you for sharing!!
Hi Angelina, It’s an easy organizational fix, glad it was helpful.
Nice transformation! Great job picking storage solutions and getting organized!
Thanks Debbie! I appreciate it!
So great! I love a good organizational before & after. It’s so easy to get cluttered but with a purge and some awesome containers/products it all cleans up so nicely.
I fully agree Keirsten, and it’s worth it. Being organized is such a time saver.
You have so many great storage suggestions. I am pretty organized, but I have a lifetime’s worth of shampoo collection we need to use. I know I should probably throw it out, but I can’t.
Thanks Tammy! Don’t throw out that shampoo, but maybe have it double as body wash, and liquid soap so you get through it a little faster.
You’ve totally inspired me to go through my bathroom cabinets now! I’ve been trying to work at getting my house more organized, and I end up just creating chaos because I try to do too many things at once. I’m going to stop all my current projects and focus just on clearing the clutter in the bathroom – and I bet it will create momentum to tackle other projects. Thank you for the awesome tips. I particularly like the slide out drawer under the sink – what a cool concept!
Oh I’m so glad Susan! I know no one sees the bathroom, but getting it organized and keeping it that way (I’ll work on that one) has been a game changer for me. And you’re right, it builds momentum to get the other areas of the home in order as well.
I need more organization in my life. This is great inspiration!
Hi Lisa, it’s a great place to start organizing. Thanks for reading!
I always wonder “why do i keep so much junk ” under these cabinets ..lol. well this is exactly what I need to do and the inspiration behind it.
Yes, and it’s a habit we need to keep doing every so often. Thanks Jamala!
I think everyone needs a professional organizer to help them get organized! 🙂
Yes, you’re right Barb, it would be nice! It’s also something we can train ourselves to get better at.
I need someone to do this for me – then keep it organized 🙂
Exactly! Staying organized is the hardest part.
Wonderful tips! I love being organized. It feels so good.
It does feel good Cindy, I want to get better at the habits of purging and organizing.
What an incredible transformation! Thank you for showing the before and after pics.
Taking these small steps has made getting ready so much easier. Thanks for commenting!
Organizing can be a big job, but once it’s done it feels so nice.
So very true. Thanks for visiting Sabrina!
I love those pull-out baskets for cabinets. We also found a way to use the “unusable” faux drawer that so many bathrooms have. My husband bought a kit that allows the front plate to tilt outward. He attached a little tray inside so we can store toothbrushes inside. 🙂
Nice! It just makes sense to use every bit of space we’ve been given.
This is assuming that one has that much storage space to begin with! I have 2 tiny bathrooms that I have recently done some work to (one was almost completely gutted – except for the vanity), but neither vanity has a ton of storage space. I have added the stainless rollouts in both and some good baskets in the larger one, but that’s all the room I have,
These are good ideas Cindy! If you’d like more storage consider a small shelf in your bathroom. Blessings!
