Not enough sunshine outside?
Need some cheering up on a dreary day?
Do some Spring decorating with a lemon centerpiece!
Nothing says fresh air, new starts and warm weather like a bunch of lemons. At least that’s what comes to mind when I think of a bowl full of fresh lemons.
It’s not quite Spring here in Michigan. In fact, if you follow my Instagram stories you’ll see we’ve been making use of the late snowfall.
Spring Decorating with a Lemon Centerpiece
As beautiful as it is outside, I need some Spring cheer.
A bunch of lemons and greenery will make the end of any long Winter a little better.
I may even see some sunshine poking through the clouds, or I’m able to appreciate it better, who knows.
The fact is, our homes effect how we feel and putting together this centerpiece made me feel really good!
Supplies for a Lemon Centerpiece
- faux lemons
- a shallow basket (any basket will work, I thrifted mine)
- artificial baby’s breath
- green moss
- leaf garland
- artificial greenery stems
How to make a lemon centerpiece.
- Lay the leaf garland into the base of your basket.
- Tuck in a few sprigs of baby’s breath.
- Add two of your greenery stems. Put the greenery stems on the right side of the basket and then the other two with the greenery on the left.
- Fill in the holes with moss.
- Add in your lemons. -Layer some on top and tuck others down at the bottom of the basket for depth and a good color mix.
There, that’s it!
You have a stunning lemon centerpiece that’s filled with cheery yellow and several tones of green.
It was simple to put together, calming even.
My kind of decorating!
Basically, this centerpiece made our whole kitchen a lot happier to be in.
It’s amazing to me how color can change moods.
Bright, Cheerful Lemon Yellow
The bright yellow color of lemons is often associated with happiness and positivity. It truly can trigger feelings of optimism and energy in people.
When our oldest daughter Mary was about 8 years old we decided to paint her room.
I was determined to let her choose the color of her room, even though I very much wanted some design say.
When it came time to pick out paint Mary shunned the pretty pale pink apricot I suggested.
Instead she chose bright, shockingly bright, canary yellow.
It did represent her sunny demeaner quiet well.
Looking back I’m so glad I let her decide.
She’s now an incredibly gifted artist and marketer.
All in all giving kids choices leads to their self expression.
Consequently, I like to think I encouraged her creativity in allowing her to choose that blaringly bright yellow bedroom.
Putting these centerpieces together is a lot of fun for me.
Is this something you would make for your home?
