Our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree or Trees

Tradition brings a lot of comfort to people at Christmas. Like most of you we’ve made gong to get our Christmas tree a yearly tradition. We often cut down our own tree. Jeremy loves doing this tradition. I think it has something to do with holding a saw and walking though the woods. Plus when the kids were little they always were very impressed with how strong Daddy was to make the tree come down. This year that was the plan again, but as soon as I say, “plan” you know things didn’t go as planned. Maybe I should just plan on that happening whenever we make a plan?

The kids didn’t feel like driving the 40 minutes to where we had found our tree the three prior years so we went to another Christmas Tree farm owned by the same family. It’s always so much fun walking the land and exploring.

We stumbled on a grove of small trees and our oldest was smitten by them. Why not get a Charlie Brown tree?! I thought about it for a bit and thought, why not get several? We also bought a pre cut tree. More on that one in another post.

We usually put our Christmas tree in our music room, but you may have seen we changed that to a formal dinning room this year. We’ll still have a tree in there, but I also wanted to see a tree, or three in this case, from the kitchen. We put these three little trees in our family room with twinkle lights and it makes me so happy to look up and see them while I work in the kitchen. We’ve never had a tree this little before and they are so cute!

It surprised me how easy these smaller tress were to set up. Since our tree feller/lumberjack aka Jeremy is good at his job, we had a long trunk on each of tree. I just placed them in heavy crocks and they’ve stayed securely in place. Imagine an extra large flower in a vase, it works. They do need lots of water so I have to make sure to refill them every morning.

Just in case you’re wondering I believe two of these little guys, or gals, are pine trees and one is a spruce.

This is the time of year I get all things red out of storage and place them around the house. The vintage red books next to the trees adds some life to this evergreen gathering of three. Aside from the twinkle lights we’ve kept the trees undecorated. Part of their charm is their simplicity. Our little group of Charlie Brown trees brought immediate Christmas vibes, and I’m sure I’ll want to keep them up after the Holidays are finished.

Sometimes the best things are small. This is particularly true for Christmas. So much impact and sweetness can be rolled into something small. It’s almost as if it’s easier to hold dear and remember that way.

Have you ever had a little tree like these for Christmas? Was it one of your favorites? I’d love to hear your Christmas tree memory.
