A fashion hack I use a lot is that I style a long skirt year round.
This skirt is so versatile and the best fashion purchase!
Let me show you why.
One Skirt, Four Seasons: How to Style a Long Skirt Year Round
If living in Michigan has taught me anything it’s how to dress for all four seasons with ease.
I’m a Midwestener, of course I know how to layer clothing!
WINTER – How to Wear a Long Skirt When It’s Icey Cold
In the Winter leggings under skirts is a must for me. A second layer really helps keep you warm in below freezing weather.
Making sure your neck is covered also stops the cold from getting in. Turtlenecks will always be in style for me for this very reason.
I also keep heat from escaping my body by wearing a hat even indoors with a lot of my Winter outfits.
Feet stay toasty when covered with thick socks, wool socks being the best.
High boots are a staple to wear with skirts in the Winter to keep legs covered as much as possible.

SPRING – How to Wear a Long Skirt In Mixed Temperatures
Spring might be the most challenging season to dress for.
Although I’m not wearing one in these photos, when outside I like to wear baseball caps.
Why? The sun is closer to us here than in the Summer. It’s easy to forget because it can be so cold, but sun damage can happen easily in the Spring. Baseball caps also keep your head from getting wet in the drizzly days of Spring. Wearing a cap is an easy style decision when you want low maintenance hair.
Tie a button up long sleeve top at the waist over a tank top. It’s a chic style trick to accentuate you waist. If the day gets colder button up to cover your chest.
With so much rain in the Spring sneakers, specifically leather sneakers, are perfect for comfort and to keep feet dry.

SUMMER – How to Wear a Long Skirt In Humid Heat
Full long skirts like the one I’m wearing can be a great way to stay easy breezy in the hot Summer.
I don’t like anything clinging to my legs when it’s hot, and long skirts keep you covered yet cool.
A wide brimmed hat keeps the sun off your face and looks chic.
Breathable, light toned, cotton blouses look pretty with skirts while not clinging to your skin.
Slipping on sandals makes it easy to get outside and to indulge in feeling the grass or sand beneath your feet.

FALL -How to Wear a Long Skirt In Cooler Weather
The key to Fall is to wear layers. It’s usually cooler in the mornings so start with a short sleeved t-shirt.
Pair a cardigan over top the t-shirt, and when the day warms up remove it. You could tie it around your waist or pop it in your bag.
I often wear tights in the Fall. Although they’re thin it’s just that small amount of added insulation needed to stay cozy.
Booties are some of the best Fall footwear. Protecting feet from the cold yet not covering so much of the leg that you over heat.
