Life As Art

by

The birds are quite excited. At 7:00 am they’re already busy singing, and loudly. When it’s quite and I’m sitting inside the sound of their lyrical songs set the tone for the day. Be joyful!

But we’re not birds, we’re humans and not just any humans, we’re the ones living in today’s high tech, high stress world. We have deadlines, we have huge responsibilities, and we have worry.

All these factors come together to steal our joy.

The challenge is not to let that happen. How do we hold onto joy when modern life presses in, often squeezing joy out?

Gratitude!

Yes, gratitude will work wonders to protect your joy.

Give thanks for every little thing. You know how some people can over exaggerate a small negative and turn it into a big deal? Be that person, but do it with the little blessings.

Take what you might call a small win and treat it like it’s the a enormous accomplishment. Celebrate it, share it with those you trust, and give thanks.

It was sunny this afternoon? Turn on the music, say out loud, “This sunshine is amazing!”, lift you head up, close your eyes and actually feel that sunshine on your face.

Holding a spirit of gratefulness close at all times keeps joy in your heart.

It’s a practice and it reaps rewards not just for you, but for those around you. Don’t worry if you forget, just start again. Pick and blessing and remind yourself how wonderful it is you’re experiencing this blessing.

Then do it again, and again and again.
