March is here!
I was talking to some Instagram friends who live in northern climates and we agreed it can be a challenging month for us. So many people in warmer states are experiencing sunshine and the greening of their landscapes, but not us. Here in Michigan and in many parts of the country, Canada, and other parts of the world it’s really cold!
Not only that it’s also gray and rainy most March days. Officially yes, it’s Spring but it’s not the Spring that includes cute cotton dresses and sandals. Oh no, for me it’s muck boots, turtle necks and raincoats.
I almost started this post by admitting March is my least favorite month, but that’s not what I want to focus on. For those of us with S.A.D, focusing on the positive along with therapy light lamps is a must. We’re so close the happiest time of the year. Not that happiest time of the year, we just had Christmas, and all my decorations are still sitting in the basement waiting to be put away.
I’m talking about Summer. The happiest time of the year for a born and raised Michigander like me.
Growing up here Spring break would see a mass migration of families packed into station wagons headed to Florida. Not ours though. My Mom and Dad would rather toughed it out in the sleet and slush of West Michigan rather than tough it out in a car with us three kids bickering in the back seat for an 18 hour one way drive.
Instead we would cuddle up in the parlor. My parents with a book, us kids with whatever was on tv (usually an old movie) and eat comfort food all week. Mom and Dad were smart.
I’ll wait out the dreary weather this March as well. We’re almost over the finish line. Now’s the time to give thanks for whatever weather comes our way. We’re here on this amazing planet and we’ll take whatever
