A Last Look at Our Simple Summer Bedroom Decor

Do you know what day it is today? It’s getting chiller, the days are shorter, and the leaves are beginning to turn bright colors.

Today is September 22nd the first official day of Fall!

Yesterday it was 80 degrees here in Michigan and today is only supposed to get up to 63 degrees.

Today is also our youngest’s 7th birthday, so Happy Birthday Gracie! Our world is so much better because of you sweet child.

Most home bloggers are in full on Fall mode and I’m getting close, but I still love how our bedroom looked this Summer. It’s one of my favorite places in the house and I’m pretty dedicated to keeping it a little oasis in the middle of a very busy household with five kids at home. Jeremy and I are always trying to get a few minutes alone and this is where we usually escape.

Here’s a last look at our simple Summer bedroom decor.

As most of you know I’m an avid thrifter. As I was looking at these photos, my favorite pieces are the ones that I found at either estate sales, thrift stores or marketplace.

I’m also in love with my big creamy pillow covers from Amazon, as well as the long lumbar pillow found at HomeGoods. I’ve linked some of these for you below.

When decorating bedrooms, I do like to keep it rather simple. Bedrooms can easily become distracting when you add too many good things. Since they’re specifically designed for sleeping it’s important to minimize most things that don’t add to that end.

Tips for a Neutral Bedroom

-When you have a room with large amounts of light colors I find that mixing as many textures as you can helps add interest and visually speaks volumes.

-If you want the majority of your space to be white or cream, anchor it with a rug that holds some color. It grounds the space so that the room doesn’t look like it’s floating away.

-Don’t forget your art. Art really can shine in an all white space. If you don’t want your art to stand out too much choose frameless art or frames with lighter colors. The art here is vintage except for the large abstract piece which I painted.

This is a Summer look that I really loved. Just like saying goodbye to Summer it’s a little sad to say goodbye to this version of our bedroom, but so much fun planning for the Fall edition.

Which is coming soon!

Are you still holding on to some Summer decor even though we’re on to Fall?
