A Few of My Favorite (Home) Things of 2021

The year 2021 has been filled with big projects for our family. We’re so proud of these and how they positively impact our lives everyday. We’ve also finished several small projects and added small things to our home that make a difference and are enjoyed as well.

Here are a few of my favorite projects and home “things” of 2021.

Painted Our Master Bath

After way too many years as beige I finally got around to painting our bathroom. The whole room lit up with light as soon as the first grey white coat of paint went on. More plans to come, but for now we’re enjoying the change.

Fall Front Porch

Definitely got carried away with the pumpkins this year. Definitely don’t regret it it one bit! As with most projects you gain more ideas from each new project. I have big plans for this front porch come Summer.

Vintage Black Cabinet

One day I walked into a thrift store I frequently shop and there across the room stood the most handsome, arched black curio cabinet I ever did see. I think I may have floated across the floor to meet it, either that or I ran. Jeremy happened to be with me and I made him understand the importance of our find. It came home with us the same day. We drilled holes in the back and put in puck lighting so at night it lights up beautifully. One of my favorite thrift finds of 2021.

Vintage Pair of Cane Chairs

Part of why I love these chairs is becomes duh, they’re twins, and second they were $2 each! Need I say more? A favorite find!

Thrift Flip Refinished Buffet

Refinishing this buffet was a big job, but thank God I love the outcome. They just don’t make furniture like they used to and this old buffet was an oldie yet goodie. Solid, great hardware and beautifully grained wood made it worth taking the time to sand it down and give it a white wash. It’s cabinets and drawers help keep us organized,  and I like using it to show off my latest vintage finds..

Oil Painting Gallery Wall

Over the past few years every time I found a beautiful oil landscape I’ve picked it up. Not going to lie my collection of oil paintings makes me a little giddy. As an artist it makes me so happy to discover the art of others and I respect their work so very much. I had been hoping to find a wall in our home to display some of my favorite pieces on. After pondering where it could be I decided a kitchen gallery wall is not only perfect, because it’s unexpected, but also because we spend so much time in our kitchen and would be able to appreciate the art there. Our boys helped me hang these select pieces and the three of us had a surprising amount of fun working together. I’m always impressed by both of their unique creative thinking. It’s the artist in them.

As we end 2021, I’m filled with gratitude for what we have been given and hope for the coming year. We feel honored to share with you how we’ve created a home we love on a budget we can handle. Our goal is to inspire you to do the same. Thank you so much for being here. See you in 2022!

Blessings, Maria
