Hey friends, I just found two classic vintage necklaces and it inspired me to write, 12 ways to wear a long and short strand pearl necklace.
I’ve been having so much fun with jewelry lately.
My oldest daughter Mary and I used to have a jewelry business several years ago. We loved working together creating new designs and traveling to trade shows.
Vintage jewelry has also been a passion for both of us.
Jewelry that is passed down from mother to daughter, grandmother to granddaughter holds a tender place in my heart.
Mary and I share jewelry as well, it’s a sweet thing.
12 Ways to Wear a Long and Short Strand Pearl Necklace
Pearls are making a comeback.
Pearls are having a moment, but honestly they always have been one of the biggest stars of fashion.
This long pearl necklace is my new staple. It’s surprising to find it can be used in so many different ways.
Pairing the long pearl necklace with another short pearl necklace I have makes for a great look.
Pearls with T-shirt and Jeans
I’m finding all kinds of ways to wear both the long and short pearl necklaces together with different outfits.
I especially like how adding a pearl necklace to T-shirt and jeans gives a contemporary, fresh and unexpected look.
To create these looks it only takes a long and short strand necklace, as well as a thin 7″ or so ribbon or thread. This is to tie at the back of your neck when doubling the long necklace.
Here are a few versatile pearl necklace stylings for you to try.
1. Simple and Long
Just place it over your head and go.
2. Choker and Long
Once over your head twist then place over your head again and pull it close to your neck.
3. Doubled
Over the neck, twist then over the neck again to the desired length.
4. Tripled
Form a double necklace with the long necklace then add the single strand.
5. Twisted Long Strand Necklace
Twist the necklace tightly then with a thin ribbon join the two end together at the back of the neck.
6. Knotted Long Strand
Tie a knot near the end of a long necklace and loop over your head.
7. Single Short
Clasp on a short strand necklace and go.
8. Doubled Knotted Long
Tie two knots to form one large knot in the middle of a long strand necklace and with a thin ribbon tie the ends together in the back.
9. Single Knot Long
Tie a knot in the middle of a long strand necklace and with a thin ribbon tie the ends together in the back.
10. Double Bracelet
Wrap a short pearl necklace around your wrist twice and clasp to form a bracelet.
11. Multi Layered Bracelet
Wrap a long strand pearl necklace around your wrist several times to form a striking, oversized bracelet.
12. Knotted Choker
From a knot in your short pearl necklace to form a knotted choker.
Why are pearls so popular?
Besides being beautiful, pearls have historically been pursued in fashion.
Generally, pearl jewelry has long been a symbol of peace and purity. The pearl necklace is often seen as a symbol of success and wealth, and embodies timeless elegance.
It is also said to represent the moon, the water, and fertility.
Of course, pearls are a gift from nature, which make them even more appealing to me. It’s pretty amazing what nature can do.
Pearls will continue to be sought after by those who love beauty.
Time to hit the thrift stores, antique stores and Etsy to see if you can find a pearl necklace, long or short, for yourself.
Happy hunting loves!
