This Holiday season Art Deco is trending big time. You see it everywhere, so I decided to try a simple Art Deco Style Christmas arrangement.
I have a lot of Christmas decor and this year I’ve decided to not buy anything unless I’m crazy over it. As in, I’m sorry, but this is way too adorable to pass up and I must have it, crazy.
So far I’ve done a surprisingly good job of doing just that, and this Art Decor style Christmas arrangement is proof.
Why? Because it didn’t cost me anything.
Except time, and that doesn’t even count because it was fifteen minutes of fun.
Simple Art Deco Christmas Arrangement
I shopped the house for all everything I used in this arrangement, When I say shop the house I mean I went into my Christmas closet and looked for loose faux foliage.
But not before I told the kids not to bother Mommy for half an hour and if they heard yelling not to worry as it’s just me asking myself why I throw all our Christmas decor willy nilly into storage bins in unorganized ways after the Holidays are over.
What I found in our Christmas closet made me happy though. Several faux stems and sprigs that could make a a beautiful Christmas inspired arrangement, and so I did!
If you don’t have what you need on hand I gathered a group of great Christmas stems. Some are the exact item and others are similar to what I used.
You can find the supplies in my Amazon Shop HERE.
How to Make an Art Deco Christmas Arrangement
Gather Faux Stems
Shop you’re home, shop my Amazon Store or head out to your local thrift shop. Make sure you have at least five different styles to compose your arrangement.
Art Deco is known as being lush and intricate. The more diversity of stems you have the better.
Choose a Vintage or Art Deco Stye Vase
If you have the perfect Art Deco style vase for your arrangement, amazing.
If not, not worried!
Choose a vintage vase with great curves and you’ll still get the look we’re going for.
I found this silver vase years ago at a thrift store. So glad I finally got around to using this elegant vessel! It needed a little cleaning up and then it was ready to be the base of my Art Deco Christmas arrangement.
Add Filler to Vase
Adding filler helps to stabilize the stems in the vase. You can create an arrangement without filler, but it’s so much easier if you have it.
I used a couple of plastic bags and they worked great. You could use almost anything that helps hold stems in place.
Tissue paper, fabric, and dried beans are cheap alternatives to floral wire, floral foam or a frog vase.
Displaying an Art Decor Floral Arrangement
This whole project started because I wanted a Christmas arrangement in our foyer.
I don’t know about you, but when I walk in the door from a long day, I’m tired and ready to be in the comforts of home.
Having a pretty floral arrangement to welcome me cheers me up immediately.
It also helps fuel me on to the next steps after coming home which can be stressful. You know, the whole routine of getting coats and bags but away properly, then figuring out what’s for dinner. It’s a whole thing at our house and it’s not pretty.
But my Art Deco Christmas arrangement is oh so pretty!
This arrangement actually could last well past Christmas. If I remove the poinsettias it makes a lovely Winter arrangement you could use as a centerpiece for a formal dinner.
This is an affordable project you can finish in half an hour. Give it a try and incorporate some Art Deco decor in your home this Holiday season.
