It’s such a gorgeous time of year in so many parts of the country. If you’re one of my friends from down South then you’re looking forward to cooler temperatures. If you’re further North than you know the leaves are about to put on their yearly show and devastate us with their beauty.
The photo below shows my happy place. During the Fall one of the most relaxing things I do is start a fire in our firepit. I love to sit and warm up after working in the yard. It’s so meditative to listen and watch a crackling campfire.
The tree above our gathering spot starts to turn colors before any others. Whenever I see that first little patch of red leaves on it’s branches it always makes me smile. It’s as if it’s saying to me, hello old friend!
The happy traditions of Fall are beginning as well. We went apple picking this past weekend and have plans to do a corn maze on Saturday. In celebration of harvest time and football many of us have started decorating our homes for Fall. I’m one of them!
I stopped decorating for Fall for several years because things were just too busy, but the last few years I’ve made a point of adding some Autumn trimming and colors to our home.
Doing so makes me feel better about the fact that warm weather won’t be with us for a long, long time. It also is just so pretty when warm golds, bright reds and happy rust colors are added to our house.
Life As Art
Pretty things I saw this week…
This house surprised me with it’s down to earth coziness and modern appeal.
Homes should be healing places and this designers made sure this stunning home are just that.
We’re in the process of deciding on window treatments for Mary’s bedroom. Found this article and it’s everything you need to know about choosing and hanging curtains.

The Gift of Music
If you’ve never thought of the French horn as passionate, then you need to watch and listen to this performance.
The biggest reason I like country music is because of the stories. Stories and songs like this one.

Have fun in the corn maze. We’re huge country music fans too.
Have a great weekend!
I almost put a link with Loretta Lynn singing this song, but then I thought not it’s not her song and I’ll share her later. Then my daughter just told me she passed away on Tuesday! So sad to say goodbye to a legend.
Your firepit is quintessential fall! I didn’t always decorate for fall but I feel like when I do, it makes me slow down and appreciate the season. We have our first pumpkin patch visit this week- my son’s first field trip of the year!
I completely agree with you Marie. Slowing down and savoring Fall is the way to go.
Lovely post. I love fall traditions too. We had our first fire this weekend too
Aren’t they wonderful Regina? It’s just so relaxing to sit and savor the moment while warming up on a chilly day.
Thanks for sharing such interesting posts! Hope you and your family continue to enjoy fun Fall actvitis! Have a fabulous week! Blessings, Donna
Thank you Donna!
You’re right, decorating for each season can be tiring but just a sprinkle makes all the difference. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, just a sprinkle will do it for me, and makes ours spaces just a little bit happier. Blessings Rachel!
