Life As Art

by

Happy Saturday!

It’s a good time of year to reset. We all need a new beginning and it’s part of why I love January.

Life As Art

There are plenty of things about Winter that I don’t like, but instead of focusing on them I would much rather look at ways to get around them. The color palette outside holds a lot of beauty in my eyes. I do after all love neutrals as well as dark and light contrasts.

Even so, after Christmas I find myself longing for the color green when I look outside. We won’t have much until May so I look to adding nature inspired greens inside, and when I do it’s most often in the form of plants

A good faux plant can do the trick. It’s a powerful color and a little green goes a long way. Our foyer got a change up this last week. An original piece of art and a fake plant. Now when we come in from the cold I have something pretty to help me get through the cumbersome unloading rituals. Even if you don’t have kids, taking shoes and coats plus scarves and mittens off, putting bags and keys away away, juggling garbage from the car and books from the library, can be a huge chore. Add to that kids who leave all the aforementioned things on the floor, and I need something orderly and lovely to look at.

It never ceases to amaze me how much our homes can encourage us.

Stylish design ideas I saw this week

This room is such a cheerful space with a nod to the power of a rainbow.

Were gearing up this Winter to tackle of pantry and this one here is giving me the nudge I need.

For anyone thinking of making a painting booth, read this first for some great ideas of how to go about it.

Thanks Mary Ann! Holding over a little green from the Holidays helps to get through these Michigan Winters.
