Hanging Dried Flowers As Home Decor

by

I love cottage style and what’s more cottage style than flowers and herbs hanging to dry?

This whole idea started because of the changing seasons. I was perfectly happy with my foyer and the hat wall arrangement, but the cooler weather came and it was time to put away our Summer hats.

Hanging Dried Flowers As Home Decor

In our foyer we have a cabinet that we built to block our garage door from view. This is one of my very favorite projects and you can see more of How to Turn a Cabinet Into a Partitionhere Part 1and here Part 2.

This past Summer I used the partition to hang sunhats. It was a great look and very practical. Whenever I left the house I would grab a hat. Now that it’s Fall sunhats aren’t needed, but I wanted something pretty and seasonal to take the place of hats.

It occurred to me to hang flowers here to dry and that too would be a practical and pretty solution, but I didn’t have enough flowers on hand that would dry nicely.

So here’s my secret.

Mix it up!

Dried, Fresh & Faux Flowers

If you don’t have fresh flowers to dry, get the cottage style look by using already dried or faux flowers in their place.

I used both fresh, dried and faux flowers to create a pretty hanging dried flower arrangement. The fresh flowers came from the side of the road. The dried flowers came from my Mom’s garden, and the faux flowers from the craft store, as well as my faux flowers stash. Everyone has one of those right?

Decor Tip:

Put faux flowers on your Thrift List. You can find great deals and sometimes discontinued faux flowers which make them extra special.

Tie your fresh, dried or faux flowers together with a string or floral tape then cover that with a bow of your choosing.

A bow can add color and texture to finish off your hanging flower wall arrangement.

I love dried flowers. I always have dried lavender in our home. Great idea to mix in fake too.
