Creating a Christmas Scent Simmer Pot with a Crockpot

As the festive season approaches, there’s nothing quite like the aroma of Christmas to fill your home with warmth and cheer. In this blog post, I’ll guide you through an easy and natural way to create a delightful Christmas scent using a simmer pot in a crockpot. This method is not only safe and toxin-free but also adds a cozy touch to your holiday decor.

I bought two of these little crockpots HERE. One in white and one in stainless steel. they’re both so affordable.

Why Choose a Crockpot for Your Simmer Pot?

Traditional simmer pots are typically used on a stovetop in an open pot, which requires constant attention to prevent boiling over or drying out.

Moreover, an open flame can be a hazard, especially with children around or if left unattended. I worry about these things with our kids. A crockpot, offers a safer and more convenient alternative. You can set it and forget it, without worrying about safety hazards.

Plus, using a mini crockpot allows you to create multiple simmer pots in different areas of your home, each with unique scents.

Recipe Ingredients for a Christmas Scent

For this specific Christmas simmer pot, we’ll be using:

  •  Apples
  • • Oranges
  • • Cinnamon sticks
  • • Cranberries
  • • Rosemary
  • • Thyme

These ingredients offer a classic Christmas aroma combining citrusy notes with the warmth of cinnamon and a hint of herbal freshness from rosemary and thyme. Rosemary especially triggers feel good feeling for me. Does it for you? It just one of my favorite herbs.

Aesthetically Pleasing Setup

Crockpots can be discreetly hidden in baskets for a more aesthetic look. To do this, I simply cut a slit in the side of the basket for the plug and cord, allowing it to be easily connected to a power source.

I had my kids try and find the crockpot and they had to really look for it even though it was in plain sight.

Benefits of a Crockpot Potpourri

Non-toxic: This method is completely natural, eliminating the need for artificial fragrances that can cause headaches and lower air quality. I often get a sore throat when I’m around scented candles for a long period of time. With this all natural Christmas crockpot potpourri it feels good to know my family, guests and I are breathing in all natural ingredients that smell delicious naturally as well.

Versatile: You can customize the ingredients according to your preference. You can make your potpourri just as you like it. Customize your scent. Add vanilla beans or star of annis. Get creative!

Memory Making: Filling your home with a Christmas scent creates a memorable and festive atmosphere. It’s really simple and relaxing to listen to some Christmas music and sip tea or hot cocoa while creating the potpourri. It’s something that you can do with the family as a fun project where everyone can pitch in and help.

Christmas Crockpot Potpourri tips:

  1. To save money, instead of cutting up a whole orange, peel an orange, eat the fruit and use the rind in your potpourri.

I’ve experimented with this technique and found it smells the same.

2. If you don’t have cinnamon sticks in the house, sprinkle some ground cinnamon into the crockpot. It smells exactly the same.

Creating a Christmas scent with a simmer pot in a crockpot is a quick, easy, and delightful project.

It’s a wonderful way to enhance your home’s ambiance during the holidays while ensuring safety and cleanliness.

Try it out and see how it transforms your festive experience. Your family, and perhaps even your neighbors, will thank you for the wonderful aroma of Christmas that fills your home!

Our whole house smell incredible and it puts me in such a great mood. It’s made me think that scent is one of the most under rated of the five senses.
