All the links to my friend’s blogs are at the bottom of this post.
Now, Let’s commence with the Holiday spirit and talk about how to easily create a peppermint Christmas bowl!
How to Make a Peppermint Christmas Bowl with Popcorn
One of the best aspects of the Holidays is all the handmade goodness that comes out of this time of year. It doesn’t seem to matter what it is, if it’s made by hand at Christmastime it just seems better. And to that point things seem happier.
If you don’t have a lot of time to spend on homemade craft projects or treats, a peppermint Christmas bowl needs to be on your To Do list.
You’ll Need:
- Peppermints
- Popcorn
- Butter
- Round Cookie Tray
- Medium Size Bowl
- Two Oven Mitts
- Dish Towel
- Wooden spoon
- Fork or Knife to dislodge melted peppermint from tray
First Step in making a Peppermint Christmas Bowl
Line a round cookie tray or pizza sheet with peppermint candy.
You can use the standard red and white hard mints or the green and white ones, or even mix them together to form a pretty design.
Second Step when Making a Peppermint Christmas Bowl
Pop the tray in the Oven
Bake the peppermints at 400 degrees and check every minute until the candy is completely melted.
Our candy melted after 3 minutes in the oven.
Mold Your Peppermint Christmas Bowl
After the melted candy has cooled for about 5 minutes or so, test it to see if it is firm enough to be taken out of the tray.
You want it to still be very warm, so warm that you can mold it into a bowl shape.
Turn the tray over and begin to pry an edge loose so you can slowly remove the flattened candy. Lay it over a bowl and with a dish towel gently press the sides down and around the bowl.
When you’re happy with the shape, let it cool and harden.
Peppermint Christmas Bowl Fail
No craft project is truly complete without a mistake. Making this peppermint Christmas bowl was not without it’s problems.
I left the peppermint candy in too long on the first attempt and over heated the candy. It produced a swirled pink color that bubbled up and looked similar to a melted candle. Although it didn’t resemble the shape or pattern of peppermints, it did have an interesting look, and I liked it.
Peppermint Popcorn for Your Peppermint Christmas Bowl
What’s the perfect Holiday snack for a peppermint Christmas bowl? Peppermint popcorn of course! And it’s so easy which I love.
Follow these easy steps.
- Crush a handful of peppermint candies with a mortal and pistol.
- Take a half stick of butter and melt it in a large pan.
- Add the crushed peppermints and then the popcorn.
- Mix together then cover and let popcorn pop.
If you prepare ahead of time and have these simple ingredients on hand, you can whip up a sweet and festive Christmas treat at the last minute.
To sum it up, this peppermint bowl is a great way to make friends and family feel special and welcomed during the Holiday season.
This peppermint Christmas bowl is such an fun craft. Most importantly fill it with peppermint popcorn or whatever you like and enjoy.
Hopefully you’ll find a moment to spare during this busy Holiday season to try this easy little sweet treat.
Enjoy the day!

Marie, This peppermint bowl is gorgeous! I love that you shared that projects can fail the first time. I have wanted to make these for a few years but never do it. Pinned
You’ll have fun with it. Make sure you have nice thick oven mitts on when you press it over your bowl. It gets hot!
Marie, that peppermint bowl is one of the most unique things ever. I would have thought it would stick to the pan. So cute. What a conversation piece. Good to have the “overcook” warning.
Thanks so much Carol! Yes, it can over heat easily so keeping a watch on it is key.
What a delightful ‘craft’! Perfect for a family movie time. from Holiday Hop
Exactly Linda, it really is a fun Christmas treat!
Wow; this is so impressive! We gave up sugar years ago, but I would love to get some peppermint candy just to try the bowl! What a conversation starter.
Yes, I think it’s a perfect food craft to take to a Christmas party. You can just leave the bowl with your host!
Thanks for showing the first attempt too. It’s refreshing to see the mistakes and lessons learned. Also, that popcorn sounds amazing!
Oh it’s so good, just a delicious flavor with a little peppermint in the popcorn.
I had no idea you could melt mints like this. This is such a brilliant project. Thank you for sharing your fail because I would likely have left it in too long too.
Thanks Crystal, It was so much fun, even the fail had us laughing.
Hi Maria! This is such a creative and cute idea! I adore the scalloped edge of the bowl! I appreciate you showing the mistake you made too! I love peppermint but have never thought to add that flavor to popcorn! Guess who’ll be making peppermint popcorn tonight! Thanks, Donna
Hi Donna! I love sweet popcorn and adding peppermint adds a really nice flavor. Hope you’ll like it!
This is wonderful! So creative! Thank you for sharing the mishap and how wonderful it did turn out! So special!
Thanks Mary Anne!
This is the best idea, Maria! I love how it turned out! So fun!!
So nice of you, thank you Kim!
I have made several things with peppermints, but never a bowl. They can be tempermental in the melting time. And the green is completely different than the red.
Hi Rosemary! That’s so interesting that the red is different from the green. I’d love to try new projects with them.
This is so adorable. I love how yours is shaped. I’ll be featuring this post at Thursday Favorite Things this morning. 🙂
Thank you so much Pam, such an honor!
