Now, Let’s commence with the Holiday spirit and talk about how to easily create a peppermint Christmas bowl!

How to Make a Peppermint Christmas Bowl with Popcorn

One of the best aspects of the Holidays is all the handmade goodness that comes out of this time of year. It doesn’t seem to matter what it is, if it’s made by hand at Christmastime it just seems better. And to that point things seem happier.

If you don’t have a lot of time to spend on homemade craft projects or treats, a peppermint Christmas bowl needs to be on your To Do list.

You’ll Need:

peppermint Christmas bowl ingredients

First Step in making a Peppermint Christmas Bowl

Line a round cookie tray or pizza sheet with peppermint candy.

You can use the standard red and white hard mints or the green and white ones, or even mix them together to form a pretty design.

Second Step when Making a Peppermint Christmas Bowl

Pop the tray in the Oven

Bake the peppermints at 400 degrees and check every minute until the candy is completely melted.

Our candy melted after 3 minutes in the oven.

Mold Your Peppermint Christmas Bowl

After the melted candy has cooled for about 5 minutes or so, test it to see if it is firm enough to be taken out of the tray.

You want it to still be very warm, so warm that you can mold it into a bowl shape.

Turn the tray over and begin to pry an edge loose so you can slowly remove the flattened candy. Lay it over a bowl and with a dish towel gently press the sides down and around the bowl.

When you’re happy with the shape, let it cool and harden.

Peppermint Christmas Bowl Fail

No craft project is truly complete without a mistake. Making this peppermint Christmas bowl was not without it’s problems.

I left the peppermint candy in too long on the first attempt and over heated the candy. It produced a swirled pink color that bubbled up and looked similar to a melted candle. Although it didn’t resemble the shape or pattern of peppermints, it did have an interesting look, and I liked it.

You’ll have fun with it. Make sure you have nice thick oven mitts on when you press it over your bowl. It gets hot!

Marie, that peppermint bowl is one of the most unique things ever. I would have thought it would stick to the pan. So cute. What a conversation piece. Good to have the “overcook” warning.

I have made several things with peppermints, but never a bowl. They can be tempermental in the melting time. And the green is completely different than the red.
