With Valentine’s Day around the corner, the day of love has been on my mind.
When I was in high school I dreaded the holiday. Sixth-period flowers would be given out, but I never got one! No one wanted to be mine. I’m laughing now, but not then. Let’s just say, teen angst is a powerful thing. That all changed Senior year when a certain handsome blond with a heart of gold started staring at me in Advanced Biology. To this day he says he was just smiling not staring, but again, teen angst.
Valentine’s Day has been a happy one for most of my adult life because I’ve had Jeremy by my side. Our love has been and is a joyful one, and I’m deeply grateful for this fact. Looking back there were many years I was ungrateful and not mindful of the love we shared. In life, it’s easy to take those closest to you for granted, but that’s not how I want to live. Instead, the goal is to stay awake to the many blessings both big and small that we have been given. To hold love close to see it as precious and to protect it.
Jeremy is my heart, and my answer to prayer. He’s proof that love persists and grows deeper with time.
