budget minded Christmas Front Porch ideas

Pure Happy Home is all about getting beautiful results from every dollar invested in your home. Frugality is subjective, but I consider myself a frugal person on the whole. If I spend money on something I’m expecting a great result.

That being said, sometimes I have to spend a little more than I’d like in order to get the look I want. Our 2021 Christmas front porch is one of those times.

But.. I love it!

Want a festive Holiday front porch, without spending too much? We decorated our front porch keeping our budget in mind and cost down.

A Budget Minded Christmas Front Porch

Keep It Simple and Tradition

We’re sharing the budget-friendly Christmas decorations we chose for our front porch. The simple design decisions and classic Christmas decor sure make us happy when we pull into the driveway. I definitely think that this year we’ll be keeping up the majority of these decorations for the month of January. So much goes into decorating for Christmas, it’s nice when you can extend those decorations and the effort expended into the New Year.

Here’s a breakdown of what we did to make it very merry on our front porch this season.

Faux evergreen trees

These trees were thrifted and only five dollars apiece. Found them last year and they are worth storing the other months of the year. I love their classic look and how they stand guard on either side of our front door. These here are very popular in the home design community.

Evergreen garland and wreaths

You can buy these wreaths and garland anywhere. I happen to have thrifted mine, and I’m not sure if I’ll be using them next year. Might donate them back to the thrift store and invest in more realistic garlands for next Christmas. Either way greenery is a must when decorating for Christmas if you want a traditional look and feel.

Stone Urn or Large Planter

This great vintage piece was given to me. Even at this time of year it still holds some living plants. I also filled it in with fresh greenery. We’ll keep it here throughout January and switch out the plants and greenery as needed. Most of us have a large planter we could use and fill with fresh evergreens, but if not hit up your local thrift store. This time of year, throughout much of the country, people are giving away their planters because of colder days.

Battery operated twinkle lights

They have changed my life! No messy cords to deal with, just easy and so convenient. You can find them here and I shared about them in this post. I also used these here on our front porch. They last a little longer and take the standard AA battery.

Lanterns

These are such a great product. I stumbled upon them on Amazon and you can see them here. I love them! They were very inexpensive and easily attached to the house with command strips. You can light them up and they are battery operated.

Outdoor Rug

I knew we needed a rug to not only cover up our not-so-pretty cement porch floor, but also to stop mud and dirt from coming in the house. I am incredibly happy with the purchase of this rug here from Amazon. The price is quite incredible and with a family of seven going in and out of our house, you wouldn’t know that anything had ever even touched this rug. Its gray and white pattern is still clean, and we’ve used it here for a week.

It’s made of durable plastic so no worries when it gets wet. I can see us using it throughout the winter and into the spring when things get very wet and muddy here in Michigan.

Mat

This small mat I nabbed at Target. It may be out of stock but it’s such a good looking piece and pairs so well with the gray and white outdoor rug.

Wrapped Presents

The front porch still needed some Christmas pizzazz so I wrapped empty boxes from our most recent Amazon delivery. Quite appropriate for an Amazon delivery box to end up back on the front porch. Coincidentally, they are the only things Jeremy and I have wrapped yet this Christmas and the big day is just five sleeps away.

In total this front porch was under $100 including lights. A price we’re happy to pay because it brightens the whole family‘s mood. I hope this post has given you some ideas on how you can create a budget minded Christmas front porch.
