5 Ways to Gently Transition Your Bedroom to Fall

fall bedroom transition

Do you feel Fall in the air yet? The change of weather is the first step, next is the leaves changing color!

Nature transitions to Fall ever so gently.

It got me thinking that I wanted to do the same in our bedroom when decorating for Fall, go gently…because I love to decorate, but nature tells me,Please slow down the leaves are still green.

The challenge was to add Fall decor, but keep it subtle. I did this by using a calming palette of warm neutrals.

Here are 5 Ways to Gently Transition Your Bedroom to Fall

1. Blankets

A very real and basic need up in Michigan. I’ve been known to buy wool blankets in July in anticipation of the coming cold. It’s the best time to get a great deal!

Choose a lighter throw blanket to gently start easing into Fall in your bedroom.

I also use a creamy quilt and a soft knit blanket on our bed. If the nights are cooler we’ll use them, but if not they add dimension and interest.

2. Pillows

Choose pillows with saturated color and loads of texture. Think browns, rusts, golds and maroon. Only buy pillow covers so you can easily store them when they’re not in use.

When storing lay pillow covers flat and they take up less room, making it easier to say yes when you find a beautiful one you just have to have.

3. Dried Florals

During the Fall use dried hydrangea as decor. They’re ideal flowers for drying because they have large flower heads that look fabulous when clumped together

Wheat is also one of my favorites to use for subtle Fall decorating.

The washed out tan color of wheat is calming and wheat is an iconic American harvest crop perfect to bring indoors this time of year.

4. Art

Adding art is probably my favorite way to change up a space for the season. Collecting vintage art is one of my passions and the process of going through my collection and choosing what piece of art to put where is just so much fun.

I also am a painter, so if I don’t have the right art for a space you can find me in my studio painting one!

The abstract piece between the two bedroom windows is one of my creations from several years ago. Still not tired of looking at it, and I do every day!

5. Boxes

Although I like a clean, uncluttered look, there is no doubt about it I also like stuff.

Boxes help keep things from getting to unorganized and visually messy. Look for wood and metal boxes for Fall. Both elements have warmth to them.

Boxes in the bedroom can hold glasses, pens and paper, jewelry or cell phones. All things you want tucked away so you can keep a calm sleeping area. Whether stacked or on their own boxes are a great way to gently add some Fall to your bedroom.

I love the gold boxes. I actually found a very similar one in a charity shop last week. It came home with me! Love the cosy vibes.

Oh I’m so glad you found them! It’s such a treat when I find a special box at a thrift store. That’s were these two came from as well. Have a great weekend Rachel!
